Contact Info

This is our most successful mule deer hunt. The guarantee is simple, if you don't harvest a buck or get a reasonable shot opportunity you can return for half price, very few outfitters make this offer.

Shot Opportunity

Shot opportunity has been 100% for nearly 20 years on these Montana deer hunts. Rifle hunters should sight rifles dead on at 200 yards, most shots range from 50 to 300 yards. Archers should practice from 10 to 80 yards, depending on your ability and equipment.

Trophy Quality

Hunters usually get big bodied mature mule deer bucks with 18" to 28" wide antlers. Many of the bucks taken will be in the 140's to 160's with a possibility of bucks in the 170's to 180's class.

Hunting Areas

To insure quality hunting, Bearpaw Outfitters lease thousands of acres of private ranch hunting land near Miles City in Southeastern Montana.

Hunting Methods

Hunting methods often include spot & stalk hunting, glassing hillsides, draws, fields, and brush pockets, or sitting and watching water holes and feeding areas. Several properties have good vehicle access so physically challenged hunters can also have a great hunt.

Hunting Seasons

Montana is one of the few states that has a rifle rut hunt for Mule Deer. Rifle season generally starts in late October and ends the Sunday after Thanksgiving. There's a couple weeks overlap of Deer and Antelope seasons, so deer/antelope combo hunts are available in late October and early November. Archery hunting season opens in September through mid October. Archery hunters usually hunt from blinds or spot and stalk.

Best Time

The first two weeks of season are popular for Deer and Antelope combo hunts. Hunters wanting to hunt the deer rut plan for mid to late November. Most any time you choose to hunt during the season should be successful.

What's Not Included

Your personal gear, motel room, meals, meat processing, taxidermy, licenses, gratuities, and any other items not listed as being included.

Licenses and Hunter Ed

Anyone born after January 1, 1985, must have completed hunter education to hunt in Montana. Bowhunters also need proof of bow hunter education or a previous archery license from another state to get a Montana archery permit.
